PRINTING United Alliance submitted comments in response to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) request for input on how the agency should spend the money allocated to them in the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund program The Alliance requested that the EPA dedicate some funding to support small business efforts at reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

In a significant expansion of potential financial liability, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) issued a decision that makes employers who illegally fire or demote employees in violation of labor laws responsible for consequential damages related to any financial injury that the affected employees experience.

Beginning January 1, 2023, manufacturers in Maine must report information about products that have intentionally added chemicals, specifically perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl (PFAS) substances. This law, called Stop Perfluoroalkyl and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances Pollution (38 MRS § 1614), was passed in July 2021. The law also prohibits the sale or distribution of PFAS-containing products that are not reported and bans the use of intentionally added PFAS in any product as of January 1, 2030.
