Beginning January 1, 2023, manufacturers in Maine must report information about products that have intentionally added chemicals, specifically perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl (PFAS) substances. This law, called Stop Perfluoroalkyl and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances Pollution (38 MRS § 1614), was passed in July 2021. The law also prohibits the sale or distribution of PFAS-containing products that are not reported and bans the use of intentionally added PFAS in any product as of January 1, 2030.

California’s COVID-19 Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS) that has been in place for several years and has evolved as more was learned about COVID-19 is set to expire on December 31. Consequently, the Cal/OSHA Standards Board has announced that a new proposed Non-Emergency Regulation, revised in October, will be approved at the next Cal/OSHA Board meeting on December 15, 2022.
