On August 9, President Biden held a signing ceremony to put his stamp of approval on the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act of 2022 thereby enacting the legislation into law. Biden hailed the bill, which in its final form provides $52.7 billion in subsidies for US semiconductor production, R&D, and advancements in science and technology, as a “once-in-a-generation investment in America itself.” -

Colorado Governor Signs Legislation Enacting Extended Producer Responsibility

In early June, Colorado Governor Jared Polis signed the Producer Responsibility Program for Statewide Recycling Act (HB22-1355) into law. Colorado became the third state to pass extended producer responsibility (EPR) legislation, following Maine and Oregon that passed legislation in 2021. -

That party’s signature Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) passed by a vote of 51-50, with Vice President Harris voting to break the 50-50 party-line tie.
