California Enacts Sweeping Reduction in Packaging Law

Governor Newsom has recently signed into law, SB 54, the Plastic Pollution Prevention and Packaging Producer Responsibility Act. This new legislation creates an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) program for both printed paper and plastic packaging, requires certain reductions and eliminations for single use plastic packaging, sets minimum recycling rates for plastic packaging and promotes the use of refill or reuse systems. -
