They involve the completion, posting, and submission of certain separate, but related, recordkeeping forms. The two dates that are key are February 1 and March 2.

    Effective January 6, 2023, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), an agency under the Department of Transportation (DOT) that regulates the trucking industry in the United States, updated its regulations on drug and alcohol testing reporting and inquiry. The new rule requires employers to include in their background investigation if a prospective Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) driver had previous drug and alcohol program violations within the past three years before hiring the driver.
