Colorado Implements New Savings Law

The State of Colorado is requiring employers to facilitate a retirement savings plan for their employees with the Colorado SecureSavings program. Employers are not required to contribute to either their existing qualified retirement plan or the new SecureSavings plan. Rather, the state is trying to encourage workers to save for retirement and creating a vehicle for retirement contributions in situations where no qualified retirement plan already exists. -
Two New Jersey Laws Add to Employer Responsibilities and Increase Costs

The first New Jersey law, signed on February 6, 2023, will provide workplace employment protections for temporary workers. The first provisions of the new law go into effect on May 7 and the remaining provisions go into effect August 5. The second law modifies New Jersey WARN regulations, which require employers who are planning large layoffs to provide prior notice to the state and the employees. Among other provisions, part-time employees are now included in the head count. -
