  • EPA Bans Most Uses of Methylene Chloride

    One year after the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) began the process of banning methylene chloride, the agency announced its final rule for consumer and most industrial and commercial uses of the carcinogenic chemical methylene chloride. The ban becomes effective on July 8, 2024, when the final rule was published in the Federal Register.

  • DirectMail2.0 to Create the Largest AI-Powered Direct Mail Database with the Acquisition of Who’s Mailing What

    Clearwater, Fla. — Florida-based marketing software firm DirectMail2.0 is pleased to announce it has expanded its tech ecosystem with the acquisition of 40-year-old mailing institution Who’s Mailing What! (WMW), a direct mail performance and insights tracking platform with a database of more than 300,000 scanned and cataloged mail pieces. The acquisition, to be finalized with immediate effect on May 1.

  • Delta Display Invests in Two Agfa Tauro inkjet Print Engines

    One of the largest printers of POS and display graphics in the UK, The Delta Group, has invested $1.4 million in the purchase of two Agfa wide-format print engines. A Tauro H3300 HS LED has been installed in its Biggin Hill facility and the Tauro H3300 UHS LED, as pictured, at its main 180,000 sq. ft. site in Waltham Cross. The two new machines are Delta’s first move into high-speed, hybrid digital inkjet presses, both come with the ability to print on rigid and flexible media.

  • Department of Labor Issues New Final Overtime Rule

    The Department of Labor (DOL) has issued the final rule revising the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Overtime Rule (OT Rule). The new rule will become effective on July 1, 2024. The OT Rule provides the framework for companies to determine whether an employee must receive overtime compensation for working more than 40 hours each week. The OT Rule has three tests to categorize workers as either “Exempt” from overtime wages or “Non-exempt” from overtime wages, which means that the employee would receive at least the 150% of applicable wages (time and a half) mandated by the OT Rule.

  • Federal Trade Commission Bans Non-Competition Agreements

    On April 23, 2024, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) banned companies from using non-competition agreements – generally referred to as “noncompetes” in employment agreements, severance agreements, and other contracts. The purpose of noncompetes is to protect employers from being competitively disadvantaged by companies that hire their employees away from them and then benefit from that former employee’s inside knowledge of the company, which theoretically provides an unfair advantage to the hiring company.

  • Legislation in New Jersey Will Ban Black Printing Ink

    In the start of a growing trend focusing on banning carbon black and other “toxic” chemicals, legislation was introduced in the New Jersey Senate on April 15, 2024, that would ban the use of carbon black and other toxic chemicals in packaging. The bill, S3135, Toxic Packaging Reduction Act, would require producers of packaging to reduce the amount of packaging being produced and calls for the creation of a Toxic Packaging Task Force.
