Chief Administrative Officer

Position Summary:

The Chief Administrative Officer serves as a key member of the senior leadership team and is responsible for overseeing the organization’s core operational functions, including Finance & Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology, and Legal. This role ensures operational excellence, financial stewardship, organizational effectiveness, and alignment with the strategic priorities of PRINTING United Alliance. The Chief Administrative Officer partners closely with the Chief Executive Officer and senior leadership to drive organizational performance, optimize internal processes, and support sustainable growth across the Alliance’s programs, services, and member engagement initiatives.

This position is remote within the United States and requires a work schedule aligned with Eastern Standard Time (EST) business hours.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

  • Collaborate with the CEO and senior leadership team to develop and execute organizational strategy. 

  • Translate strategic objectives into operational plans, ensuring alignment across departments. 

  • Drive organizational effectiveness, scalability, and continuous improvement initiatives. 

 

Financial & Accounting Oversight

  • Provide executive oversight of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. 

  • Ensure strong financial controls, compliance, and risk management practices. 

  • Partner with Finance leadership to support revenue growth, cost management, and long-term financial sustainability. 

 

Human Resources Leadership

  • Oversee HR strategy including talent acquisition, employee engagement, performance management, and succession planning. 

  • Foster a high-performance, inclusive, and mission-driven culture. 

  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and best practices. 

 

 

Information Technology (IT)

  • Lead IT strategy to support operational efficiency, data security, and digital transformation. 

  • Oversee systems infrastructure, enterprise platforms, and technology investments. 

  • Ensure alignment of IT capabilities with organizational goals and member needs. 

 

Legal & Compliance

  • Provide oversight of legal affairs, contracts, and regulatory compliance. 

  • Partner with internal and external counsel to mitigate risk and ensure adherence to applicable laws and industry standards. 

 

Operational Excellence

  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) across departments. 

  • Improve cross-functional collaboration and operational workflows. 

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

 

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop senior leaders across Finance, HR, IT, and Legal. 

  • Build strong leadership pipelines and ensure organizational continuity. 

  • Promote accountability, transparency, and results-driven performance. 

  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned by manager.

 

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred). 

  • 10–15+ years of progressive leadership experience, including senior operational oversight. 

  • Proven experience managing multiple corporate functions (Finance, HR, IT, Legal). 

  • Strong financial acumen and experience with budgeting and organizational planning. 

  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex organizations and drive operational transformation. 

 

Preferred

  • Experience in associations, nonprofit organizations, or member-driven industries. 

  • Familiarity with the printing, manufacturing, or related industries. 

  • Experience working with boards of directors and governance structures.
