Position Summary:
The Vice President, Finance & Accounting is a senior leadership role responsible for the financial health, integrity, and sustainability of PRINTING United Alliance. This position oversees all financial functions, including accounting, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), budgeting, reporting, audit, and compliance. The Vice President, Finance & Accounting serves as a strategic partner to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Administrative Officer, and the executive team, providing financial insights that support decision-making, drive operational performance, and ensure long-term organizational success. This role also plays a key part in supporting the Alliance’s mission by aligning financial strategy with member value, program growth, and industry impact.
This position is remote within the United States and requires a work schedule aligned with Eastern Standard Time (EST) business hours.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy & Leadership
- Partner with the Chief Administrative Officer and executive leadership to develop and execute financial strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Provide forward-looking financial analysis and insights to support strategic planning and investment decisions.
- Serve as a key advisor on financial implications of new initiatives, partnerships, and programs.
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
- Lead the annual budgeting process and multi-year financial planning.
- Develop and maintain rolling forecasts and scenario modeling.
- Monitor financial performance against budget and provide variance analysis and actionable recommendations.
Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and revenue recognition.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Maintain strong internal controls and adherence to GAAP (or applicable standards).
Audit, Compliance & Risk Management
- Lead the annual audit process and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, tax, and reporting requirements (including nonprofit/association standards if applicable).
- Identify and mitigate financial risks, ensuring appropriate policies and controls are in place.
Cash Management & Treasury
- Oversee cash flow management, investment strategies, and banking relationships.
- Ensure optimal liquidity to support operations and strategic initiatives.
Operational & Cross-Functional Support
- Partner with department leaders (events, membership, education, etc.) to support budgeting, pricing, and financial performance.
- Provide financial oversight of key revenue streams, including membership, events, sponsorships, and education programs.
- Support operational efficiency initiatives through financial analysis and cost management.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Lead financial systems strategy, including ERP/accounting platforms and reporting tools.
- Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
- Leverage data and analytics to improve financial visibility and decision-making.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team.
- Build a high-performing, collaborative, and service-oriented department.
- Establish clear goals, accountability, and professional development plans.
Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA strongly preferred).
- 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experience.
- Deep expertise in financial planning, accounting operations, and reporting.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
- Experience leading audits and managing compliance requirements.
- Proven ability to partner with executive leadership and influence decision-making.
Preferred
- Experience in associations, nonprofit organizations, or member-based business models.
- Familiarity with revenue streams such as membership, events, sponsorships, and education.
- Experience with financial systems implementation or optimization.
