In early June, Colorado Governor Jared Polis signed the Producer Responsibility Program for Statewide Recycling Act (HB22-1355) into law. Colorado became the third state to pass extended producer responsibility (EPR) legislation, following Maine and Oregon that passed legislation in 2021.

Senate Democrats scored a major political win on August 7, following a long and atypical weekend session that included a 15-hour “vote-a-rama” on a series of amendments. That party’s signature Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) passed by a vote of 51-50, with Vice President Harris voting to break the 50-50 party-line tie.
