Every day, PRINTING United Alliance’s Government Affairs team works to protect and advocate for print—so you can focus on customers, growth, and innovation. That means tracking and shaping regulations, practical compliance guidance that reduces risk and cost, and translating policy into clear, business-ready actions. At this year's PRINTING United Expo in Orlando, Florida from October 22-24, that work came to life. Alliance members received direct access to subject matter experts and opportunities to learn about and get involved in advocacy.
The team was out in force at this year’s Expo, sharing timely policy, workforce, and compliance insights and connecting with members across the show floor. Below are a few highlights from the Expo:
- Making sustainability practical. Sara Osorio, coordinator of EHS Affairs, joined a panel moderated by Cassie Green, content director for the Apparelist, titled “Sustainability Made Simple: Actionable Steps for Apparel Decorators.” She also delivered “The Sustainability Disconnect in Printing: Looking Beyond the Product.” Sara not only helped lead several Spill the Ink roundtable discussions focused on sustainability, but also showcased her work through The Print & Packaging Sustainability Glossary, a resource that was featured prominently at the show. Dan Marx, content director of Wide-format Impressions, interviewed Sara on trends in sustainability in the wide-format printing industry including a focus on the benefits of digital printing and the challenges of extended producer responsibility (EPR) legislation. You can watch the full interview here.
- Highlighting environmental, health and safety. Gary Jones, vice president of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Affairs, was featured in a special interview segment produced by the Alliance’s Office of Corporate Communications. Gary discussed the evolving landscape of EHS policy. During the Spill the Ink event, Gary also led a dynamic roundtable discussion, providing members with firsthand insights into the regulatory challenges facing the industry and practical solutions to strengthen safety culture across print operations. For the latest news, view the EHS page here.
Understanding pay trends. Adriane Harrison, vice president of Human Relations Consulting, joined forces with Onamica Dhar, economist, for a high-impact session titled “Printing Industry Compensation Trends.” Together, they delivered exclusive, data-driven insights into the latest pay benchmarks shaping the printing industry. Their presentation equipped attendees with critical intelligence to guide strategic decisions in hiring, retention, and budgeting, offering a clear view of how compensation trends are evolving across roles, regions, and market segments. The session underscored the Alliance’s commitment to helping members stay competitive in a rapidly changing labor landscape. Building advocacy muscle. Stephanie Buka, government affairs manager, hosted an engaging Advocacy 101 roundtable discussion during Spill the Ink designed to empower members with the tools to effectively champion the printing industry’s interests. She was also interviewed by Ashley Roberts, content director for Printing Impressions, covering the current state of play in Washington, key 2025 legislative victories, and the Alliance’s 2026 advocacy goals—further amplifying the industry’s voice well beyond the Expo floor. You can watch the full interview here.
Across three days, our team met with many members—listening to concerns, celebrating wins, and gathering real-world feedback that will help shape our 2026 policy agenda. The Alliance’s Government Affairs team is here for you—working every day to ensure that your voice is heard, your business is protected, and the future of print remains strong. Thank you to everyone who joined a session, stopped by to talk EHS, sustainability, HR, or advocacy, or shared how policy impacts your business.
