The Importance of Cam Design in Sheet-fed Printing Presses.

Pages: 4

Summary:

This paper covered some of the computations necessary in designing cams which provide smooth press operation without sudden jars and resulting disturbances in printing. Streaks across press sheets can be caused by vibration traceable to poorly designed cams. It was observed that there are some 32 cams in a large single-colour press, about half of which performs some function in positioning the sheet.
