Tensile-at-the-Fold. A Method for Testing Resistance of Paper to Heat Degradation.

A method is discussed which correlates and predicts by laboratory testing procedure the ability of coated paper stock to withstand the brief but intense temperatures of heat-set printing press operations and yet produce a crack-free fold which will withstand bindery and mailing operations. Equipment and standardized procedures are described.
