Summary:

The measuring of register variation is very important for putting in operation or repair and service of a multicolor press. The print machine manufacturers also need the evaluation of register variation for research and development of new products. The commonly used method for measuring register variation is based on image processing. This method is very accurate but also exclusive. Most of the consulters of the graphic industry cannot afford such a technology. This paper introduces an alternative method, whose results are close to the results of an image processing method for measuring register variation. The proposed method is based on spectrometry and colorimetric and is not so expensive compared to the image processing method. In this paper we describe how the proposed method works.
