Travel Line on Web Fed Printing Equipment.

Travel Line is the term used by designers of press equipment to fix the exact repeat length of a press, cut-off in a folder, sheeter or other in-line finishing equipment. Travel Line of the web dictates register color accuracy , back up color to color accuracy, web stretch and sharpness of dot. Lost production due to excessive web breaks may be caused by the substrate being off the Travel Line. The paper submitted deals with that area in the press room which requires meeting the designer's needs to ensure smooth and efficiently run press equipment. While the designer of the printing equipment can only fix bearer diameters and undercuts, he relies upon the pressroom to continue the effort of making a press-line as productive as possible.
