With the demise of lead, chromium and cadmium based pigments as standard ink colorants, the perception of ink handling hazards has changed somewhat. The reasons are many and include: continued regulation by OSHA, of the heavy metal operations (i.e. lead) and regulation of heavy metal pigments under SARA, CERCLA, RCRA, and CONEG. This presentation will address the fastest growing areas of printer's concerns including Health and Safety Concerns with Ink Handling, Ink Hazardous Waste Characteristics, and Ink Heavy Metal Content.
