The advent of ANSI Status T, and the microprocessor-based color reflection densitometer has brought a degree of repeatability and inter-instrument agreement that allows communication of densitometric data across all industry segments. This paper introduces a public domain, industry-wide database of densitometric data to be administered by the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation. A database of this nature will be invaluable for specification groups such as SNAP, (Specification for Non-Heat Advertising Printing) and SWOP (recommended Specifications Web Offset Publications) and the proposed GCA Specifications for sheetfed commercial printers.
