A Definitive Strategy for the Closed Loop Control of Process Color Printing - Round One

Summary:

An initial effort has been made to develop a systematic procedure for controlling or minimizing the color variations which occur during four-color printing by the offset method. The starting point is the preposition that the printing operation can be modeled as a closed loop system. This analogy is used to explain the role of the press operator and where he or she is located within the system. The analysis of the task of controlling color variations in printing has placed the operator in a major role of closing the loop. He or she serves first as the system sensor when examining the printing output. A systematic procedure, in flow chart form, has been proposed for controlling the color variations which, up to now at least, are inherent in the lithographic process.
