Summary:

An ongoing analysis of printing processes required rationalization of copper's apparent preference for ink over water. This research clearly demonstrated that copper can become hydrophobic or hydrophilic by simple manipulation of its immediate surroundings. Copper's perceived preference for hydrophobic behavior is a fortuitous result of reactive rather than passive chemical properties.
