Progress in Electronic Prepress Systems (EPS)

The advent of electronic prepress systems presents the printing industry with the opportunity to fully automate or rationalize the historic skills and crafts involved in creating information in the form of printed pages. New opportunities created by all electronic prepress systems open new business areas to the astute printing manager, while at the same time offering significant threats to the printing industry. The automated office using computer-to-press cylinder technology in order to print pages with halftones in place, and the burgeoning video magazine and advertising catalog markets, are revealed not as threats to the forward-thinking printer but as opportunities for business expansion.
