Tension and Register Model for a Multiunit Web Press

A formulation is given for generating web transport equations under general conditions of paper variation and press motion. The method employs a coordinate system referenced to the unstrained web to simplify the computation of misregister. Techniques are presented for formulating the system differential equations for the general case where web strain is not constant between units. Several example solutions are presented where numerical integration methods are used to solve these generalized equations.
