An Optimized Color Reproduction Method Incorporating Subjective and Objective Controls

Details:

Year: 1982
Pages: 15

Summary:

A process based on objective measurements and permitting subjective control of the average output of a color reproduction system is described. A method for relating the intent of the buyer was first developed and related to the color separation process; a feedback loop relates measurements of press sheets to the intended results and relays corrective data to the separation process when necessary. A data base allows for multiple optimizations such as standardizing the output of different systems, and satisfying different objectives related to cost, time, or quality in the same system. Control functions can be operated from distant or centralized stations. The analysis, development, and testing of the process is discussed.
