Summary:

Numerous silverless photographic processes have been developed to overcome the limitations and deficiencies of silver halide systems. Many of the silverless processes eliminate most of the limitations but until KC-Film was announced, none had the speed or spectral sensitivity of silver halide emulsions. KC-Film consists of an electroconductive inorganic coating on a polyester base. It has an exposure speed comparable with Kodachrome II, an ultimate resolution of 10,000 line pairs per millimeter, no reciprocity failure, complete panchromatic sensitivity, and it can be imaged both optically and electronically. The film has a number of other characteristics such as reusability, add-on features and use directly as printing plate. The paper discusses these and other features of KC-Film and describes the results of some of its graphic arts applications.
