Summary:

Ink Jet Printing is a new and significant addition to the already established printing processes. Its unique features are that it is an impactless process (no plate is used) and that the imaging process is programmable so that it can work in conjunction with electronic data systems. Mead Digital Systems, inc., has done considerable research and development on ink jet printing which has resulted in DIJIT, a Mead trademark which stands for Direct Imaging by Ink Jet Transfer. System configuration and the nature of its operation are discussed.
