Exposing and Processing Screenless Printing Plates

Summary:

This paper is concerned with the screenless imaging of photo-lithographic printing plates. Positive-working plates are preferred because the image areas reside in the crevices of the plate. This will protect the image from wear and is preferable to the negative-working type. In this case, the image would rest on the peaks of the graining structure and would be subject to wear from abrasion with the blanket. Anodizing is recommended as a preparation for the aluminum surface. This is also a wear reducing step. Representative densities are shown for making screenless plates. image would rest on the peaks of the graining structure and would be subject to wear from abrasion with the blanket.
