Summary:

Comparison was made of printing by random dot compared to printing by halftone. Test targets were separately exposed for each method on the same plates so that variables such as ink, paper, etc. were eliminated. Scales using each method were exposed so that print densities were very close for halftone compared to random dot. The results indicate that printing by random dot produces a larger color gamut and brighter colors. The results indicate that printing by random dot produces a larger color gamut and brighter colors. All studies were made of prints of individual process colors and no study was made of overprinted colors.
