Summary:

NC-controlled laser die cutting is now widely used in many countries. However, laser cutting of the dies is only one process in the chain, which starts with the design and ends with the ruled die, the stripping board and the counter makeready. All the different members of this chain have to be seen from the angle of productivity and performance not only in the manufacturing of the box, but in the automated packing as well. Since NC machines need a program, the preparation of this must be easy and efficient, this means computer aided design and programming. The laser machine itself should be designed around the board. All machines for cutting and bending the rules should guarantee the same accuracy as the laser. And the counter makeready must have the same precision not to spoil all the skill which has been put into the design, the cutting and ruling of the board.
