TechnologyKODAK PROSPER 6000 Presses
The KODAK PROSPER 6000 Presses are able to consistently deliver print quality comparable to offset-approaching 200 LPI on a range of uncoated, coated, glossy, and silk papers-with zero compromise on productivity. Speed, paper options, and high-ink coverage set the KODAK PROSPER 6000 Presses apart from other inkjet presses. The unique combination of productivity, print quality, and low cost of operation enables the KODAK presses to increase the migration of offset pages to inkjet, even for jobs that don't include VDP.
The KODAK PROSPER 6000 Presses incorporate KODAK STREAM inkjet technology along with a new inter-station drying configuration. Kodak's proprietary nano-technology ink formulation, along with the press's new air cooled, near infrared driers, interlaced between the inkjet line-heads, have created a breakthrough in ink coverage, image permanence, substrate latitude, and speed. These unique features are expanding the application range of products that can be printed efficiently and economically.
KODAK PROSPER 6000 Presses are offered in two models: the KODAK PROSPER 6000P Press is well-suited for producing a range of highpage-count, moderate-ink-coverage documents, including color or monochrome trade books, marketing and law books, text and workbooks, direct mail, letter solicitations, inserts, newspapers, catalogs and magazines. The KODAK PROSPER 6000C Press is ideal for the demands of commercial print operations that produce a wider, more demanding range of applications, including direct mailers, inserts, catalogs, magazines, books, journals, and newspapers with high-ink coverage.
"The speed and quality is impressive, and the coated samples really got my attention," said one of the judges.
Printers in the commercial print space are looking to provide their customers with a return on their marketing investment that complements digital marketing techniques. The KODAK PROSPER 6000C Press can produce high quality, high-ink coverage, high-gloss targeted direct mail pieces for an average of 30% less than using toner-based systems at a speed that can be up to 10 times faster. These economics deliver greater return on marketing investments as well as improved efficiency and profitability for production runs of up to one million high-quality, personalized mail pieces.
With innovations in transport, drying, and writing systems, combined with new and more advanced image quality management technology, the KODAK PROSPER 6000 Presses deliver high levels of reliability, print speed, and application flexibility. Both the 6000P and 6000C presses can print at speeds of up to 1,000 feet (or 300 meters) per minute on matte and uncoated papers with a duty cycle of 90 million A4 top quality pages per month. The enhanced inter-station drying capability allows heavyweight glossy and silk stock to be printed at 650 feet (or 200 meters) per minute, even with the heavier ink coverages commonly found in commercial print applications.
One of the key technological innovations in the KODAK PROSPER 6000 Presses is Kodak's Intelligent Print System (IPS). It is an advanced press management process that constantly monitors and evaluates system operation to ensure outstanding color quality and highly efficient throughput, processing thousands of press inputs during operation. Its intelligent controls continuously measure paper transport accuracy, imaging performance and any registration variations. Based on real-time feedback, it calculates and makes adjustments in five axes of control to ensure peak image quality. Thanks to the new IPS in the KODAK PROSPER 6000 Presses and the speed of Kodak's STREAM inkjet writing system, the presses can grow or shrink an image in either the X or Y dimension and can even skew an image, all automatically and on the fly.
"The print system's ability to monitor thousands of inputs on the fly in order to fine tune registration and color quality is astonishing," said another judge.
The KODAK PROSPER 6000 Presses enable print service providers to realize value from a wide variety of different efficiencies. The speed and flexibility of the presses allow printers to print on-demand, offer faster turnaround times, and reduce lost profits from over-ordering or warehousing extra material. The quality of the printed materials offers printers a competitive differentiator in an already competitive marketplace. And features like enhanced personalization capabilities can open up new revenue streams for companies to transform a business's value proposition and result in added revenue.
A current user remarked that, "for many, competition has driven them to a make-or-break moment in their business, and the more they can target their marketing to their consumer, the more likely they are to survive and even thrive. Our customers have communicated that having a KODAK PROSPER 6000C makes us a very powerful asset to them as they're, in turn, able to be more agile."
