The Lockout/Tagout standard known as "Control of Hazardous Energy" is one of the most important OSHA regulations designed to protect employees from serious injury. The regulation is vital, as it pertains to both safe equipment operation and the control of hazardous energy during maintenance activities. Compliance with the regulation is mandatory and it will prevent injuries such as amputations and fatalities due to the inadvertent energization of equipment.

Since the Lockout/Tagout regulation is very extensive, this overview of the compliance requirements will be presented over two webinars. Part one will cover core requirements and key definitions within the standard, such as minor servicing and maintenance, alternative protection requirements, and exemptions. We will also walk through a Lockout/Tagout program template provided by Printing Industries of America, explaining required information and general procedures.
