G7® Live In-Person Training hosted by Idealliance as part of PRINTING United Expo featuring live, instructor led hands-on training. G7® Expert Trainer Ron Ellis as well as G7 Expert Trainer Chuck Schonert, and a team of leading print production experts will lead this live in-person hands-on focused training for G7 based print and packaging applications, and G7 integration, maintenance, and process control across all print and proofing applications. Attendees will receive extensive practical hands-on demonstration and collaboration to earn certification as G7 Experts. Registrants also receive free VIP admission to the PRINTING United Expo.

About G7 Expert Live In-Person Certification & Training

Training consists of a variety of components, including lecture & slides with open discussions, press runs and print calibration simulations, and hands-on analysis. Students are strongly encouraged to participate in hands-on activities by bringing and utilizing their color management tools and solutions, but not required.

Training Info

G7 Expert Certification LIVE In-Person training is specially designed for in-person hands-on experience driven learning. This interactive training takes place over three consecutive days as part of the PRINTING United Expo. It allows for work and integration of your learning on your own time, and additional time for questions and activities during the live sessions. Registrants will attend G7 Training prior to the PRINTING United Expo, and also be able to attend the Expo with included VIP access.

  • Participants must attend onsite to participate in training and earn certification.

Materials to Help You Prepare

When you sign up, you will receive a library of print resources so you can participate during the instructor-led hands-on activities. Downloadable production resource materials such as G7 test forms help you learn how to implement G7 in your facility to obtain G7 Master qualification. You will also receive access to the extensive online training library including on-demand training recordings to view to support your continued growth as a G7 Expert.

8:00 am: Arrival & Review of Day 1 - Q&A

9:00 am: Lecture: G7 and Color Management
Using G7 to enhance accuracy and efficiency of an ICC workflow.

10:00 am: LIVE DEMO: Simulating GRACoL
(or other RPC) Converting files from GRACoL (or SWOP) to a custom digital press profile in RIP or Photoshop. Deciding the appropriate rendering intent, etc.

11:00 am: LIVE DEMO: Calibrating & Profiling a Digital Press – BREAKOUT. Using various characterization targets and software. Compensating (if necessary) for paper color variations, measuring anomalies, etc.

12:00 pm: Lunch (1 Hour On-Site)

1:00 pm: LIVE DEMO: Verifying Press or Proof Accuracy – BREAKOUT
Measuring the color-managed P2P and IT8.7/5 targets during live press and proof production. Comparing and analyzing results.

2:00 pm: LIVE DEMO: Press Calibration & G7 Press Control – BREAKOUT
Live print production featuring offset, digital, wide format, and textile printing methods. Includes calculating custom target CIELab values for actual stock color by SCCA method.

3:00 pm: Lecture: G7 Compliance

4:00 pm: Lecture / Discussion: G7 Quality Control (Press & Proof)
Using G7 in daily production. Printing to numbers vs. printing to the proof.Analyzing proof / press accuracy with IT8.7/4, P2P and ISO 12647-7 targets. Tolerances and process control discussion.

Calculating G7 curves using workflow solutions for your print production (PowerPoint slides, not a live demonstration).

Integrating G7 and color management in a complete workflow – Photoshop settings – handling incoming files – accurate soft proofing setup, etc.

11:30 am: Discussion: Being a G7 Expert & Review
