In a sudden reversal of approaches, OSHA has dramatically changed its approach to enforcement. It started at the beginning of the year with the highest increase in maximum penalties in eight years with serious violations now set at $15,625 and $156,259 for each willful or repeat violation. In addition, OSHA has taken a double-barreled approach to how it classifies violations by no longer grouping them and will issue a fine for each violation, even if they are similar.
