Web Screen Press Operator

Responsible for setting up and operating an automatic web screen printing press according to written and/or verbal instructions, established company procedures, safety, and quality guidelines by performing the following duties personally.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Obtains substrate, screen, ink, squeegee, and related supplies needed to produce job.
- Sets stroke, punch and all guides. Sets web speed according to type of ink and substrate.
- Threads end of substrate supply roll through press and finishing stations to take-up roll and adjusts tension rollers.
- Makes adjustments in ink viscosity and squeegee pressure according to job requirements.
- Sets dryer for proper drying or cure.
- Runs production proofs. Secures approval for all printing stations before beginning production run.
- Prints job maintaining optimum production rate, color density, registration, and print quality according to company and customer specifications and guidelines.
- Constantly monitors press performance and inspects for ink thickness, substrate humidity, temperature settings, screen alignment and register.
- Re-threads substrate through press if web breaks (press stops automatically if web breaks) and readjusts tension rollers.
- Directs training of press assistant in setting-up, maintaining, running, and cleaning of web press.
- Completes production run including overruns and production samples.
- Completes production records.
- Ensures proper cleanliness of press, work station, and immediate press area by returning unused ink to ink room, removing trash, rags, and extra press sheets.
- Perform minor repairs when necessary.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Carries out conduct and leadership responsibilities in accordance with company policies, procedures, safety, and applicable laws.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED): or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standard situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, toxic chemicals, and heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Some independent travel may be required.
