Maintenance Helper

Job Summary

Cleans offices, restrooms, break areas, and assigned areas of the plant by sweeping, vacuuming, mopping or scrubbing. Empties trash, waxes and polishes floors, washes windows, changes light bulbs, etc. by performing the following duties personally. May be required to take care of exterior grounds.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receive job assignment from supervisor when necessary.
  • Sweeps, mops, scrubs, dusts, and vacuums.
  • Empties trash and garbage containers.
  • Cleans restroom, sinks, fountains, and tables, replenishes supplies.
  • Replaces air conditioning and heating filters at regular intervals.
  • Performs minor building maintenance repairs.
  • Notifies management concerning need for major repairs.
  • Cleans snow, ice, and debris from sidewalk.
  • Mows lawn, trims shrubbery, and cultivates flowers.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Carries out conduct and leadership responsibilities in accordance with company policies, procedures, safety, and applicable laws.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED): or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to one-on-one situations.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
