Job Summary
Inspects finished or unfinished cloth for defects, using power-driven examining frame.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Obtain cloth bolts according to ticket numbers, and transport to inspection station.
- Pull fabric over rollers, down over inspection board, and wrap end around take-up beam.
- Set yardage clock at zero, and initiate roller movement.
- Scan cloth as it passes over lighted examining frame for such defects as grease spots, mispicks, uneven selvages and color irregularities; marking defects.
- Record information such as type of defect, cloth style, and yardage inspected.
- May correct defects such as soil snubs or loose ends using steel pick, scissors, or cleaning solution.
- Grade cloth according to written quality standards.
- Count number of picks per inch, using pick counter.
- Conduct wash-and-dry shrinkage test, weight test and color fastness test, reporting all quality variances to Cutting Room Supervisor.
- Make recommendations regarding maintenance of inspection and testing equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness of work area and equipment.
