Job Summary
Converts mechanical art into line, halftone, or composite film elements by operating a process camera. Performs color separations, dropouts, chokes, spreads, screen tints, and other special camera effects. Uses proportional scales, determines proper screen angles to avoid moiré, and assures exact imposition of image. Processes film and other light sensitive material in the darkroom. Accomplishes above by performing the following duties.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Duplicates printed material on sensitized paper or film.
- Sets camera controls to regulate exposure time according to line density of original and type of sensitized material used.
- Activates camera to expose sensitized material, imprinting original on material.
- Develops exposed material manually or by use of film processor, and mixes chemistries.
- Examines developed print for defects such as broken lines, spots, blurs, and pin holes, touches up defects.
- Enlarges prints as required
- Reprints original in sections and pieces sections together.
- Operates process camera, processor, enlarger and other photographic equipment.
- Performs color separations, dropouts, screen tints, and other special camera effects as required.
- Performs routine maintenance in the darkroom as necessary.
- Requisitions and inventories films and supplies.
- Maintains records, darkroom film positives, negatives, and prints.
- Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment.
