Job Summary

Bills customers by gathering necessary job information, calculating charges, and issuing invoices and statements. Maintains accounts payable ledger, types credit forms, and credit memorandums by performing the following duties personally.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reads computer files or gathers records such as purchase orders, sales tickets, and charge slips, to compile needed data.
  • Enters information into computer or computes amounts due.
  • Prepares invoices, listing items sold, amounts due, credit terms, and dates of shipment.
  • Prepares bills of lading and lists weight and serial number of items sold. Types shipping labels.
  • Prepares credit memorandums to indicate returned or incorrectly billed merchandise. Types credit forms for customers or finance companies.
  • Posts transactions to accounting records such as work sheet, ledger, or computer files.
  • Compute amounts due for services and products from authorized documents, such as completed production orders, job tickets, or purchase orders.
  • Perform photocopying as needed for verification of billings.
  • Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Carries out conduct and leadership responsibilities in accordance with company policies, procedures, safety, and applicable laws.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with emphasis on accounting procedures; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathmatical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standard situations.
