Partner Spotlight: Graphic Communications Foundation (GCF) — Taiwan

When it comes to bridging the gap between regional print industries and global color standards, few organizations have been as deliberate — or as effective — as the Graphic Communications Foundation (GCF) in Taiwan. Led by Fred Hsu, GCF has built a reputation as a trusted hub for color management education, print standardization, and G7+™ certification in the Taiwan market and beyond.

A Foundation Built on Standards

GCF Taiwan's mission centers on advancing the applications of graphic communications and printing technology — with a specific focus on color management and print standardization. Their audience spans a wide cross-section of the industry: brands, design houses, OEMs, and vendors, all with a shared need to improve productivity and integrate more effectively into global supply chains.

"Demand for printing standardization and color management is growing rapidly," Fred explains, "but industries across the region remain unfamiliar with relevant implementations." That gap is exactly where GCF steps in. By connecting with PRINTING United Alliance, GCF has been able to bring G7+™ Expert training and G7+ Master facility certification to a market that is increasingly hungry for international-grade standards.

Who's in the Room?

G7+™ training in Taiwan draws a diverse mix of participants: print professionals, designers, consumables suppliers, and consultants. The common thread? Most of them work with international brands and customers, which means print consistency isn't just a quality preference — it's a business requirement. G7+™ gives them the tools and credentials to deliver on that promise, no matter where their work ends up in the world.

Color Management from the Start — A Story Worth Sharing

One of Fred's proudest achievements illustrates just how far a well-implemented color management workflow can reach. GCF has partnered with major display brands — including BenQ and ViewSonic — to integrate monitor color performance directly into the G7 workflow. The result is a more holistic approach to color consistency that begins at the design stage, not just at press time.

Meanwhile, one of Taiwan's G7+™ Master-certified printers has taken things a step further by implementing soft proofing as part of its standard G7 print production process. Clients can now preview color on-screen before anything hits paper — reducing the cost of traditional hard proofing and giving everyone in the workflow more confidence and efficiency. It's the kind of practical, real-world application that shows what G7+™ certification looks like when it's fully embraced.

Making Global Standards Locally Accessible

Language and regional context matter enormously in Taiwan's market, and GCF doesn't take that lightly. The team translates and localizes official G7+™ resources into Traditional Chinese and distributes them through its website, newsletters, and specialized seminars. The goal isn't just translation — it's genuine accessibility. By removing language barriers, GCF empowers regional vendors to adopt G7+™ standards on their own terms and integrate into the global marketplace through technical excellence rather than guesswork.

What's Next for GCF Taiwan?

GCF has no shortage of momentum heading into the coming months. The team regularly collaborates with global OEMs to host industry seminars that bring together diverse expertise on G7+™ implementation. Coming up, GCF will partner with regional Ricoh and Fujifilm representatives to showcase how G7+™ can leverage their latest digital press solutions — a great example of how certification and technology can reinforce each other in a real-world setting.

GCF is also investing in the next generation of print professionals through a co-op program that invites students to work on advanced printing and color management projects, aligning their skills with global standards from the very beginning of their careers. It's a forward-looking initiative that speaks well for the future of G7+™ adoption in Taiwan.
