G7 Expert Certification Spotlight: Usman Khan

In today’s print and packaging landscape, where color consistency defines brand integrity, the G7 methodology continues to stand as a cornerstone for excellence. Among those setting a high standard for color precision and communication is Usman Khan, head of the Prepress Department at Printech Packages. His commitment to G7 principles ensures that color is not only reproduced accurately but also communicated consistently across every link in the supply chain.

Usman Khan HeadshotWhat inspired you to pursue G7 Expert Certification?

I wanted to better understand color management from a technical point of view. Additionally, I wanted to establish a consistent and predictable method for printing. Receiving G7 Certification shows that an organization is dedicated to quantifiable quality and continual improvement.

What was your biggest takeaway from the G7 training experience?

The greatest thing that I took away from my G7 experience was the power of using a consistent data-driven approach to calibrate color. G7 emphasized the value of establishing proper gray balance as a foundation for accurately reproducing color, and how to apply a systematic approach in achieving consistent results across devices and substrates.

Since implementing G7, what results or improvements have you seen in your print process or business?

Since implementing G7, we've seen improvements in color consistency, a reduction of make-ready time, and fewer customer revisions. The implementation of G7 has built our customers' confidence in the products we produce, which has improved our ability to maintain accurate brand colors under various print conditions.

Why do you think G7 certification matters in today’s print environment?

G7 Certification is important in today's print environment because clients expect to receive identical reproductions of their brand color across multiple venues, and through the use of G7 Certification they can be assured that they are receiving an objective standard for establishing their color as well as an organization that is following industry-leading practices

Is there anything else you’d like to share?

G7 certification is more than a certificate; It is a mindset of discipline, measurement and constant refinement. I encourage printers to pursue this not just for recognition, but for operational clarity and competitive advantage.
