In response to the extreme heat wave experienced in the Pacific Northwest in early summer of 2021, the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) took action to protect outdoor workers from exposure to high heat by establishing emergency temporary rules. L&I had an existing outdoor heat exposure rule and to enhance the rule, they updated their
