Oregon Adopts COVID-19 Workplace Protection Rule

On September 15, 2022, Oregon OSHA adopted a permanent rule to offer workers continued protection from COVID-19. The rule represents substantive changes and reductions made to the emergency rule (OAR 437-001-0744: Rule Addressing COVID-19 Workplace Risks). The rule removes indoor masking requirements as well as most of the other provisions no longer necessary at this stage of the pandemic. However, it does retain many rules for “exceptional risk” workplaces, which are primarily where direct patient care is provided such as hospitals, doctor offices, dentist offices, etc.
