With its origins in Asia, screen printing is a technology that has been in existence for millennia. At its core, screen printing (also known as serigraphy) is a technique for transferring ink or other surface coating materials with high viscosity through mesh onto a surface. Typically, certain areas of the mesh are blocked, while the remainder stay open and allow ink to be transferred using a blade, typically in a two-pass operation. One pass is for wetting the mesh and a second pass is to push the ink through the mesh onto the substrate.
