Creative Recruiting: Consider Second Chance Hiring

The Second Chance Hiring Resource Guide lists organizations that are involved in the transition of formerly incarcerated people into the workforce, which is often referred to as “second chance hiring” or “re-entry services.” Organizations that transition formerly incarcerated people can be found at both the national and state levels, which is reflected in this Guide, which has both a national section and a section for resources in all 50 states.

Second chances provide wins for the formerly incarcerated person who gets to experience the dignity of work; the community wins by reducing recidivism and crime; and employers win by gaining access to valuable talent.
