Ben Franklin Honor Society Launches First BFHS Book of Wisdom- Class of 2019 Inducted

Pittsburgh, PA--At its 2019 annual meeting held in Houston, Texas, the first BFHS Book of Wisdom was launched and distributed.

Published by the Ben Franklin Honor Society (BFHS), the BFHS Book of Wisdom documents, through a series of essays, the journey to success of 47 Society members: successful and accomplished men and women who have a story to tell to young, aspiring members of the graphic communications industry.

Also at the meeting, Daneise Archer, president of Arco Ideas & Design, assumed the BFHS Chair, and 11 prominent industry nominees were inducted into the Society. The BFHS Class of 2019 includes: Mr. Stuart I. Boyar, Cooley Group Inc.; Bryan T. Hall, Graphic Visual Solutions; Brad Johnson, Church of Latter-day Saints; Tony Mancuso, TUI & Artcraft; Dennis C. Martino, Martino-White Printing, Inc.; Tressa Ann McLaughlin, SOLV; William "Kip" Smythe (Posthumous); Anthony P. Stanton, Carnegie Mellon University; Janet Steiner, formerly of Thoro Packaging; Michael Stevenson, B&B Print Source; and Robert Whitman, American Solutions for Business.

The BFHS Book of Wisdom was edited by Harvey Levenson, Cal Poly Professor Emeritus; designed by Marina Poropat Joyce, founder of INTAGLIO; and printing was donated by Dave DeLana, president of Heritage Integrated. PIA's June Crespo provided a BFHS historical account; and administrative support was provided by BFHS 2018-2019 Chair Gerald Nathe. All provided their services on a volunteer basis.

Levenson said, "The journeys of the 47 authors represent paths to success for those just entering the graphic communications industry or already in the industry and striving to become successful leaders. I recommend that the BFHS Book of Wisdom be required reading for all seniors studying graphic communications at colleges and universities."

Archer said, "Bravo to Gerry Nathe, Harvey Levenson, Marina Joyce, and Dave DeLana for the BFHS Book of Wisdom. This compilation of essays exceeded my expectations in every way. The life lessons, business insights, and bullet points in the essays would be helpful to business people in every field. They are accounts of entrepreneurship, working with others, dealing with discrimination, overcoming adversity, and more. I look forward to additional collections in the future."

ABOUT THE BEN FRANKLIN HONOR SOCIETY

Founded in 2005 by the consolidation of two established honor societies--The Ash Khan Society of PIA and The Society of Fellows of GATF--the BFHS later further expanded by adding the Order of the Black Leaf of the International Business Forms Industries Association. The Society is presently composed of 282 members elected by their peers. Part of Printing Industries of America, the Society recognizes and honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the advancement and betterment of the printing and graphic communications industry through meritorious service. Inducted members come from Printing Industries of America, its affiliates, other industry associations, printers, and all other segments of the industry. The BFHS members are a reservoir of past and present industry knowledge. The Society encourages its members to share their experience and knowledge with younger individuals in the industry through mentoring, speaking engagements, and/or other methods.www.printing.org/bfhs
