Sales Manager

JOB SUMMARY

Manages sales activities of a screen printing and/or graphic imaging company to maximize profits, achieve greatest penetration of existing markets, and retain company's customers by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate sales personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recruits, selects, orients, and trains internal and external sales personnel.
  • Evaluates sales personnel performance to achieve projected sales quotas and profit margins.
  • Forecasts and develops annual sales quotas and goals for regional or field sales personnel.
  • Prepares budget and monitors expenditures of budgeted funds.
  • Coordinates sales distribution by establishing sales territories for sales personnel.
  • Analyzes sales statistics to formulate policy and to assist with market planning.
  • Reviews market analyses to determine customer needs, volume potential, and price schedules, and develops sales action plans to accommodate goals of company.
  • Monitors costs, competition, and supply and demand to eliminate unprofitable items.
  • Represents company at trade association meetings to promote product.
  • Coordinates liaison between sales department and other departments within company.
  • Analyzes and controls expenditures of sales personnel to conform to budgetary requirements.
  • Prepares periodic sales report showing sales volume and potential sales.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the overall direction, coordinating, and evaluation supervisory and non supervisory personnel. Carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with company policy, procedures, safety, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assisting, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and discipline employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Business with concentration in sales and marketing from four-year college or university; or three to five years screen printing and/or digital imaging sales experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Strong skills in work planning and scheduling.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, production, clients, customers, and employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts to printing jobs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
