Racker Inspector

JOB SUMMARY

Inspects printed items, removes and stacks printed sheets from drying equipment, performs racking of wet printed materials for air drying, and delivers printed material internally upon completion of production runs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Obtain skids, boxes, and/or portable drying racks in preparation for racking operations.
  • Remove printed items from bed of manual or semiautomatic press or conveyor system, and rack upon completion of printing cycle.
  • Stack air-dry items placed on portable racks following prescribed drying period, checking sheets often for tackiness or partially dried prints.
  • Remove singly printed sheets or items from mechanized dryers or conveyor belts upon completion of drying cycle and stack properly. Jog and restack dried sheets in preparation for secondary printing or finishing operations.
  • Notify press operator of any drying or curing problems of printed materials.
  • Transport stacked or racked materials to appropriate areas for subsequent processing.
  • Perform other duties as necessary or required.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work area and equipment.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Carries out conduct and leadership responsibilities in accordance with company policies, procedures, safety, and applicable laws.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to one-on-one and small group situations to management, outside resources, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standard situations.
