St. Louis, MO, May, 11, 2018 – Taylor Landesman, Vice-President of Lawson Screen & Digital Products (SGIA Expo Booths: 2976, 2977), is pleased to announce the hiring of Mitzi Sue Tillem as its new National Account Sales Representative. Landesman says, “Mitzi Sue brings to Lawson strong screen printing experience, advanced understanding of screen printing chemicals and a strong customer-focused orientation.” Mitzi Sue will be responsible for sales of screen printing and DTG equipment and supplies. Mitzi Sue is an experienced industry veteran, having worked in screen printing sales for over 25 years. Her family started Zim Chemical Company, Inc. in 1969 where she worked for many years, helping grow the business. Most recently she was assisting screen printers by helping them get the best products for the best prices. Mitzi Sue is working out of Lawson’s Atlanta branch office. Federal Trade Commission Bans Non-Competition Agreements

On April 23, 2024, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) banned companies from using non-competition agreements – generally referred to as “noncompetes” in employment agreements, severance agreements, and other contracts. New Department of Labor Independent Contractor Rule Now in Effect

A new Department of Labor (DOL) Independent Contractor (IC) Rule went into effect on March 11, 2024. The new IC Standard is now the guide to determine whether a worker is an employee of a company or is self-employed and therefore “independent” from the company. If the worker is independent, then the relationship with the company is governed by the contract for services and the worker does not have the benefits or protections that attach to being an employee.

The New Joint Employment Standard is On Hold Indefinitely

On Friday, March 8, 2024, a Texas federal court struck down the newest version of the Joint Employer Standard that the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) revised in October 2023. The new standard was to go into effect on Monday, March 11, 2024. The Texas court’s ruling has blocked implementation of the new standard, which means the existing standard will continue to be in effect.
