SGIA Partners on OSHA Safe + Sound Week

For Immediate Release June 13, 2017 Contact: Kate Achelpohl, SGIA 703.359.1364 kate@sgia.org Fairfax, Virginia — The Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) is pleased to partner with the U.S. Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) on Safe + Sound Week (June 12–18, 2017), a nationwide event to raise awareness and understanding of the value of safety and health programs. Safe + Sound Week encourages businesses to conduct and promote safety programs in an effort to demonstrate their commitment to safety to workers, customers, the public and supply chain partners. “SGIA is always looking to spread awareness about the importance of safety in the workplace, which is why we are partnering with OSHA for Safe + Sound week. During this week we encourage those in our industry to brainstorm ways to make our work environments and employees safer,” said Allison Lundy, Regulatory Assistant, Government & Business Information, SGIA. OSHA suggests activities that foster management leadership, worker participation and a systematic approach to finding and fixing hazards in the workplace. By proactively identifying and managing workplace hazards, the agency notes, businesses can avoid injury and illness, improve sustainability and boost their bottom lines. “Staying on top of safety is good business. It minimizes downtime and helps your shop stay profitable. It’s also the right thing to do, and there’s a lot of overlap between OSHA’s activities and things SGIA encourages. It made sense for us to become a partner and show this to our members as an additional way to gain recognition for their safety efforts,” Lundy said. Suggested activities and a list of partners for Safe + Sound Week are online at OSHA.gov.
