OSHA Allows Electronic Filing for Inspection Challenges

The Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission, the panel that hears appeals of contested OSHA inspections, went on line September 1st with its new e-filing system.  This system allows both parties in a contested inspection including the employer and its legal representatives and OSHA and its attorneys, to see online the documents filed in the cases.  Parties not participating in the case will not be able to access the documents.  The number of contested inspections has ranged from 3,175 in fiscal year 2011 to 2,014 in fiscal year 2014.  For fiscal year 2017, the Commission anticipates that approximately 2,500 appeals will be filed.
