On Feb. 6th, Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) introduced a bill, S. 2001, The Wear American Act that would require the federal government to buy only apparel that is 100 percent American-made. The legislation directs the Federal Acquisition Regulation Council to amend the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) to require federal agencies to procure textiles and apparel articles, including components for such articles, that are manufactured in the United States wholly from articles, materials, or supplies mined, produced or manufactured in the United States.
