Kick off 2022 Color Focused

Color ManagementEntering its 26th year, the COLOR22 conference, taking place this Jan. 22-25 in La Jolla, California, is the industry conference for color in production workflow. COLOR22 has evolved tremendously over the last two decades, starting in 1996 as the Digital Color Conference, then morphing to the Color Management Conference in 1999 before becoming the COLOR conference it is today.

COLOR is the premier industry color event for brand owners and managers; designers; apparel decorators; and screen, wide-format, commercial, in-plant, and packaging printers. Speakers and sessions are carefully selected to appeal to this diverse community, all with the same goal: Producing the best, most accurate color possible.

This year’s theme, "Color. Focused." represents the breadth and depth of the sessions presented by more than 30 of the most knowledgeable color experts in the industry. Topics will be covered by well-known companies like Adobe, IWCO Direct, Netflix, Shaw Industries, Starpak Corporation, and X-Rite/PANTONE, sharing strategies, tactics, technology, and a few secrets to find success in color. COLOR22 is an incredible community of speakers, suppliers, and attendees — all who live and breathe the subject!

This year, the keynote lineup kicks off with Gerry O’Brion, founder of What Big Brands Know, who will talk about how print production professionals, designers, and brand owners can collaborate with and influence people who don’t report to them and drive color innovation. Next, Netflix's Kevin Laurino will share his color story and how his team — through educating internal staff, implementing standardized workflows, and auditing their printers — created a more consistent and accurate color environment for Netflix. Mark Lewiecki of Adobe will take over the main stage with a can’t-miss session on the changing role of the designer in label and packaging production. Last but not least, Dr. Terr Wu will present a highly entertaining and informative discussion about choosing your winning color based on scientific data — not gut or instinct.

The keynotes and main stage sessions are just the beginning! The more-than-40 breakout sessions dive deep with color solutions and are organized across four tracks:

• Print & Production
• Brand & Design
• Not on Paper!
• Standards, Research, & Case Studies
• Color Tools

If that’s not enough, attendees who register can also attend a free pre-conference session, "Color Management Fundamentals," presented by Don Hutcheson, color management pioneer and inventor of the G7 methodology. Year after year, new attendees rave about this session that helps establish a color foundation and vocabulary for regular conference sessions.

Past attendees consistently recommend COLOR as the perfect venue to discuss the challenges of color management, help set the stage for future discoveries and standards development, and network with your industry peers. Here is just a sampling of some of the event's rave reviews:
